Open Water Course

Open Water Course

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular and recognised scuba diving certification. Once qualified as an open water diver you will have a life-long open water certification that enables you to dive around the world to a maximum depth of 18 meters.

Your Open Water Course will be made up of four parts:-

  • Knowledge Development using PADI eLearning (Manual available upon request) which is done at home at your own pace.
  • Five confined water modules covering your basic skills and done in our local pool facilities
  • Water Skills Assessment during which you will swim freestyle non-stop for 200m (or with mask, fins and snorkel for 300m) and float in water too deep to stand for 10 minutes.
  • Four open waters dives, during which you’ll be able to master your new skills and have fun while exploring the underwater world. We use a wide range of dive sites including shore diving at Browns Bay and Beadnell.  We try to dive in the sea whenever possible, but if the weather turns we will have excellent diving at Ellerton Lake or Capernwray Diving Centre.
