The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty course is designed to equip divers and non-divers with the crucial skills and knowledge needed to administer oxygen in diving emergencies. Recognising and correctly responding to diving incidents that require oxygen therapy can significantly enhance the affected diver's recovery process. This course offers comprehensive training on the safe handling and administration of emergency oxygen, making it an essential qualification for anyone involved in aquatic activities.

Course Objectives and Structure

This course aims to prepare participants to confidently manage potential diving emergencies using oxygen. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical training in oxygen administration, focusing on scenarios commonly encountered in the diving environment.

Knowledge Development

Participants will start with a knowledge development session, where they will learn about the role of oxygen in diving emergency management, the types of emergency oxygen equipment, and safety considerations when handling oxygen. This foundational knowledge is crucial for understanding when and how to administer oxygen effectively.

Practical Application

The practical aspect of the course involves hands-on training with emergency oxygen delivery systems. Participants will practice:

  • Assembling and disassembling oxygen units.
  • Administering oxygen to breathing and non-breathing individuals using various delivery devices.
  • Implementing safety procedures to ensure the well-being of both the provider and the recipient.

These exercises aim to build proficiency in using oxygen equipment and applying best practices in emergency situations.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty certification. This certification signifies your ability to administer emergency oxygen, a critical skill that can make a significant difference in diving emergency outcomes.
